Hi everyone, so much things have happened in the world over the last few years and one can wonder what exactly is going on and is the Lord about to return. Nobody knows when the Lord will return or where we are in the timeframe of the end days.
We can though be still guided by his words. Jesus told us not to worry about the material things in life, so things like clothing and what we will eat he told us not to concern ourselves over them so much and to not overly worry about them. “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” (Matthew 6: 25-34). This has helped me as I used to get quite worried about unsettling bills and letters not expected and his comforting words has really supported me with this. We have seen prices of food rocket up. You can reach out to charties/church's for food parcels in times of hardships and food banks.
We have to be practical to though and try and budget well as we do need energy to survive in the majority, but being overly worried about these things is almost a thing of the past for me. Although with elderly parents I do have to fundraise at times through my siblings and seek an agreement for donations for their causes and that can worry me at times if it may be left to me to shoulder the majority. I will do what I need to do. The Lord’s words though do still help.
I have been abroad to an African country and seen in some towns real poverty, there is no benefit system and social care system and they have no NHS medical system when they are sick. Some will need to be left to beg for bare minium to eat. Their situation is painful. I was left at times thinking how can some people live with no money or food but there is charity set up to help poor people in countries and we as human beings have a responsibility to help so they too will not need to worry about food and material things as well.
I love one of the Lord's approved messages to the church's in the Book of Revelations that speaks of him understanding and knowing about the poverty and pain some of us experience today "I know thy works, and tribulation and poverty for those who were spiritually blessed" (Reveleations 2:9).
Is God still to provide manna for these people in gift packages and Jesus to manifest fish again. No, this may be unlikely. We need to do what can to help people practically. Whether God can still provide people food in places of hunger I wouldn’t rule it out-let us leave that aside though.
I will say something here and help clear this mistold claim up that Jesus asked us to follow him and leave our family behind and pick up our cross. Jesus never asked us to leave our families behind and abandon them. He asked us to put his mission first in our lives. I think that song follow me and leave your homes and family may be at the root of this mistruth, but the truth can be found in “ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.( Matthew 16). Jesus expects us to honour our parents as well.
There has been wars going on all over the world and people need to be fed and be supported if you can. We have been through atrocities in life in the past and come through. We need to stand together. I am outside of war and will support all who need to be fed, because we all deserve to live.
Here are some links where people can support others with the basic necessities in life in war torn situations.
Jesus asked us to give where we can to charity and give donations/alms also (Luke 12:33). He didn't ask us to be destitue or homeless but to live modestly in the spirit.
May I remind us of this song how we have held together and come through in some desperate times in life. Michael Jackson's Man in the miror song speaks for now as well. It moved me deeply when I heard this recently.
