Hi everyone, it is lovely to bring this news to you today. Today at church I took my vows of Confirmation and my vows to be Received into the Church. This is a part of another journey of my Christian faith which started in my childhood. I was a young child when I took my Baptism and now saying my vows as an adult it was an important step as well. This was a renewing of my Baptism vows and showing more commitment to Christ.
It was very special and I was very spoilt. It was a lovely ceremony and we had cake and coffee afterwards. This was a spiritual union to me and an invitation to the Last Supper and spiritual union to the lamb of the Church (Revelations 19:9). I had red ribbon tied over my eyes as a blindfold and my dad walked me to the church door and at the door I removed the ribbon to face the groom, the Church.
It was on the cards for a while. This was always my aim to do this Sacrament, but I saw my own thorns in a image sent to me after I made this decision which meant that may be my life and suffering was not without spiritual purpose for me being the empty vessel and as simple as I am and dependant on Christ the vine for my life.
Confirmation
Part of servive-
The candidate for confirmation who has previously been baptized may come forward to the font and sign herself with water, or the bishop may sprinkle them.
The bishop and candidate gather at the place of confirmation. The bishop stands before those who are to be confirmed and says
Our help is in the name of the Lord
All who has made heaven and earth.
Blessed be the name of the Lord
All now and for ever. Amen.
The bishop extends their hands towards those to be confirmed and says
Almighty and ever-living God, you have given these your servants new birth
in baptism by water and the Spirit, and have forgiven them all their sins.
Let your Holy Spirit rest upon them: the Spirit of wisdom and understanding; the Spirit of counsel and inward strength; the Spirit of knowledge and true godliness; and let their delight be in the fear of the Lord.
All Amen.
The bishop addresses each candidate by name and anoints them with oil
Rachel, God has called you by name and made you his own.
The bishop then lays their hand on the head of each candidate, saying
Confirm, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit.
All Amen.
The bishop invites the congregation to pray for all those on whom hands have been laid
My dad told me today that he had a dream yesterday that and he saw a star in the sky and then it shot upwards. I think it was a celebration in Heaven as well.
Thank you for sharing this special celebration with me and for putting this on for me my church.
To the future and beyond
