What is symbolic or literal in the Book of Revelation

Hi  everyone, I decided to write this post to try and help those of you who do not understand end times the book of revelation to try to understand it. The main scripture in the Bible used for end times is Matthew 24. I have written a couple of brief posts about end times on my blog and one was about the Rapture and I will link to those two posts at the end of this post.

Some people struggle with the Book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation was a vision given by Jesus Christ to John about prophecy. Some people do not understand some portions of this book about what is symbolic, allegorical or literal. I have selected those most likely to confuse people to untangle. This is agreed thought by those who understand. Hope this helps you to understand it more.

The 1st resurrection has been done (Revelation 20:40) and we await now the Rapture and then the second Coming of Christ.

Question-

Does John really eat the Book? (Revelation 10:9).

Answer-

This means that prophecy has been done and no one as told in Revelation eats a Book literally.

Question-

Is there a real dragon in Revelation 12 and Revelation 20?

Answer-

No, there is not a real dragon and the dragon is used to symbolise Satan who is otherwise known as the Devil who are fallen angels.

Question-

Daughter of Blasphemy explain-Is this a literal woman or do they represent something different?

Answer-

The daughter of Blasphemy is not a literal woman but they represent corruption and sin that the world arrives at the culmination of the world at end times. They are a symbolic figure.

Question- Is Jezebel a literal/real woman in Revelation?

Answer- Some people believe Jezebel in Revelation was once a real woman and some people believe them to symbolic. A Jezebel figure though today is symbolic and represents those who lead others away from the truth of God. Their children are their followers and not their biological children. A man or woman today can be this Jezebel figure who does this and it is not dependent on gender.

Question?

Marriage to the Lamb-(Revelation 19:7) Is anyone getting married for real, or does this symbolise something else?

Answer?

This is symbolic and let me explain and start with a scripture-

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God."

The lamb/groom which is Christ will come for his bride which is his church. Christ's bride is represented as being his people members of his church. Jesus will take his members to occupy the mansions in his Father's house (John 14: 1-3). Christ has symbolised his relationship to his people by the use of the marriage institution. In the New Earth its occupants the people will be seen as the lamb's bride.

Question-
(Revelation 12)- the woman sent out who was pregnant-symbolic or literal to you?

Answer-

This is most commonly understood to be Mother Mary who gives birth to Christ. Some people see this woman as presenting Israel in the wilderness or the Church.

Question

Two witnesses to you in (Revelation 11)-symbolic or literal to you?

Answer-

Two witnesses is believed to be real people and who they are we do not know as yet.

Question

Why to you was there not a Holy person enough to open the Book of Seals in Heaven or Earth. (Revelation 6).

Answer-

Opening the scrolls - only Jesus was holy enough to do so because he is the only one without sin. None of us are, so no human could ever open the scrolls, only the Lamb can.

Question-Will God be Praised in reality for his judgements (Revelation 19: 1-6).

Answer-

God simply be praised for his judgements on earth and not judged in a case by his elders, but simply worshipped for being great.

 Question-

Do you think we have Antichrists out there now?

Answer-

The main antichrist that the Bible speaks of has not yet been known.

Keep working in the field till he comes- "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
" (Matthew 24:20).

Hope this can help you understand this more.

In loving service to Jesus Christ-
