I am poster 1.
Hi everyone, I thought that I would start this discussion on what has been your experience with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how it has helped you in your life?
Perhaps this can help to make others who are non believers more aware of the faith and how we can be supported as Christians by the Holy Spirit.. It too may also strengthen you.
I have been a Christian all my life really, but found my own path at 16. I was given one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit at 17. (1 Corinthians 1-31) lists the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, faith, knowledge, prophecy, healing, miracles, discerning spirits, diverse tongues and interpretation of tongues. There are also different ministry roles in the church and we can fulfil these roles using our spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:11-16), These ministry roles are apostles prophets; evangelists; pastors and teacher. These roles are chosen by Christ "and he gave some" as Christ is the head of the Church (1 Ephesians 1:22) and these roles are given by the Holy Spirit. Some people receive these gifts are baptism.
I am also confirmed in the church and the fruits of the spirit is important to which is listed in (Galatians 5:22-23) which should be nurtured. The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, long suffering/perseverance, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance
Catholics gifts of the Holy Spirit is somewhat different and they also have fruits of the Spirit. The Catholic gifts of the Holy Spirit is found in (Isaiah 11:2-3).
The gift that was given to me at 17 was prophecy which has mainly focused around sight For over 30 years I didn’t share this with anybody in my life, but decided to write my story of my journey to support others at a difficult time in the world. My gift has helped to protect me in my life.
All of the gifts are good gifts from God to support the believer and the church today. It is not our doing the gifts and it is only possible through God's power alone.

I believe I was given the gift of knowledge. I can innately pull things out of the Bible that I necessarily did not study or read and digest about. As I wasn't given the gift of prophecy, I can easily pull prophecy apart and am uniquely given a lot of exposure to it. If I was deeper into my faith, I'm sure it would significantly increase.

I encourage everyone to find out what gift He has given us. It’s one way we find out God's will, because He distributes according to His determination.

Early on in my life, most who knew me would say I had an uncanny gift of Understanding.
Other gifts have followed at various levels as I have never stopped pursuing God,
and some have required painful (to me) breaking of old habits and changes in how I live(ed) my life.
Some of the more recent gifts are beyond my wildest imaginations while simultaneously a painful wisdom/realisation of how necessary it is to pick up our cross and follow Jesus.
IMO & experience, the Holy Spirit never stops giving and this is in part the reason for my Hope and excitement for Eternity with God.

I have been told I have the gifts of prophecy/teaching.

I don't know that this was a gift from the Holy Spirit, but I believe I do have the gift of compassion towards the less fortunate, and towards animals in particular.

I believe mine is discernment

I personally believe that we are born with gifts that God can use.

My hypothesis is while Jesus was on the earth, He was in operation of all these gifts. Yet when He left and the Church was born, the gifts were split among us. That way we will always be dependent on one another. I definitely feel if God would give me all the gifts, I would most likely do everything by myself, if I do anything at all. Yet as I said, God made it where we have to be dependent on one another. This is why Jesus said where two or three gather together, there He is in the midst. We together are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

What I learned was that every believer receives the indwelling of the Holy Spirit the moment he receives Christ as Saviour. He also receives one or more spiritual gifts at the same time. Not everyone receives the same gifts.

I also learned I have the gift of healing. We were out on a moving job one evening, and my good friend Paul stepped on a nail, and it went right into his foot. The next morning he was supposed to have been gone on another job, but didn't go; he could barely walk. I wasn't required to be at that job, and got up later, only to see him eating in a part of the home that wasn't allowed. He told me he couldn't walk, and so I figured I would put my(God's) healing power to the test. I said a prayer for him, and he got right up and started walking around with no limp at all. That was even more shocking because he had been shot in the foot in his past, and had a minor limp ever since I knew him. We were both in awe, it was a miracle!! I was so inspired to read the bible I went to grab my bible and notepad, and came back to the sanctuary. I sat down on the opposite end of the room, and looked over to say something to Paul. Right when I looked up I saw a mist directly in between him and I. It hovered there for a moment, and then flew out the closed window. Needless to say we have both been changed since that event took place.
The power of the Holy Spirit is real, and I encourage everyone to tap into their gifts. We have been given them for a reason, and it's to help others!! May God bless each and every one of you!!
